Forest Fire & Wildlife Protection, Reporting, and Preparedness Policy
Purpose
TruNorth Naturals Inc. (“TruNorth”) is committed to responsible stewardship of the forests in which we operate. As a company focused on sustainable wild harvesting of non-timber forest products (NTFPs), TruNorth recognizes its responsibility to proactively manage wildfire risk and minimize disturbance to wildlife and sensitive habitats.
This Policy establishes TruNorth’s framework for:
- Wildfire awareness, reporting, and preparedness;
- Protection of wildlife and critical habitat during harvesting operations;
- Alignment with provincial wildfire regulations, forest management best practices, and organic/FairWild-aligned principles;
- Ensuring harvesters, contractors, and partners operate safely, responsibly, and in compliance with all applicable rules.
Scope
This Policy applies to:
- All TruNorth staff;
- Independent harvesters and contractors operating under TruNorth purchase orders or agreements;
- Any third-party land users operating in coordination with TruNorth harvesting activities.
Operations primarily occur on Crown land and approved forest tenures in Northern Ontario and other Canadian jurisdictions, in coordination with forest management companies, private foresters, and government authorities.
